Running for HK charities! The annual Sedan Chair Race is the main fundraising event of the Sedan Chair Charities Fund. All funds raised from sponsorship go to local HK charities. It consists of teams carrying sedan chairs racing around the Peak on a choice of one of two routes (3.2km for course A and 2.1km for course B), starting from The Matilda International Hospital. Teams from a broad cross-section of HK corporations, associations, clubs and schools are all welcome to join the race. Please surf the website for more information: www.sedanchairace.org
Congratulations for HKLRRC - the winning women team of Year 2008! Our ever strong team won again on 16 Nov! The HKLRRC team has an unbeaten run of over 20 wins in this annual charity event which dates back to the 1980's. Teams of eight runners take a Sedan Chair around the 2.1km course around Mount Kellet Road. A cheerleader for each team encourages the team but cannot touch the chair. The HKLRRC team started training since October for the race and welcomed anyone to take a turn on the chair. Unlike some other races, Sedan Chair Race requires high level of team cooperation and coordination. Our training was mainly focused on the smooth role changes on the chair. Thanks to Gemma Chambers and Gillian Castka for coordinating the quality training sessions! Thanks to our nine teammates for the great cooperation!
